pcn: kampong lorong buangkok to punggol waterway park

Followed my adrenaline rush and visited the last standing kampong in Singapore, Kampong Lorong Buangkok, on Wednesday. The place really do bring out the old kampong feel with about 30 families staying in this little space one house after another, and sandy pebbly muddy grassy grounds that path the way. Wanted to explore more but I got a little afraid of "intruding" and unsure if certain areas could be walked or not, also there were cats threatening me with stares so I decided to make a u-turn.

Was so close to leaving the place when I saw the sign to the Punggol park connector - leading to Punggol Waterway Park. Don't really know where it'll lead me to, if I'm on the right track or not but I just followed the trail. It was pretty sunny, but thankfully the weather seem good enough for a "trek" and I just kept walking. Parts of the trail actually were pretty quiet and ulu and a few cyclists or joggers will suddenly appear from in front or behind me from time to time.

One of the pitstops was Sengkang Riverside Park, which was just behind the Sengkang swimming complex. They actually have this area which overlooks the Punggol reservoir and a mini boardwalk area which is slightly similar to Henderson Waves. There's also a bridge that connects to Fernvale, with a mini playground looking area.

Continued back on track after getting a drink at the vending machine and finally I see the sign that leads to Punggol Waterway Park! Not to be too happy because it says I'm another 4.2km away... what to do? Continue walking. Along the way they have shelters set up just in case it rains and of course I was pretty fascinated by all the different species of plants that I saw along the way. There wasn't much of a fauna, and honestly I was pretty fearful that a snake or lizard or whatever lurking might come out from nowhere and I'd definitely freak out.

Surprisingly I wasn't tired from the walk - I covered 6.3km!!! I was just really sticky and sweaty, wasn't even dressed for the occasion (in my tube top and shorts) but I actually felt more refreshed. Came by this wall with robots graffiti and I decided to put my selfie stick that I got from Batam to use. My virgin selfie stick experience. While setting it up, I received stares etc from joggers and cyclists, smiling/half laughing at me while I bashfully snapped on.

Finlly finally I reached the water way park. There's a sand pit, water playground, adventure bridge etc - a really beautiful place. Along the way i also took some videos for E since he wasn't there to share the exploration kekeke - will upload in the next post! Sat there for a while absorbing nature before making my way home at about 7 when the park closed. Helped this middled aged chinese couple take some photos, the uncle being a typical Chinese man, was hesitant to ask and didn't want to trouble me but the aunty, being a girl, was excited to get the photo. I think they'd been married for about 10 years at least, but still so cute and loving walking hand in hand along the park.

Met quite a few nice people throughout my trek and it really warms my heart and fuels my soul. Faith in humanity and love restored :')
