Jing Hua Restaurant & kopitalk

Finally meeting Yonghua after soooo long because he was having his exams.

Went to Jing Hua Restaurant, a dim sum place at Bugis Village. It's so low profile that I've never noticed it even though I always walk past that area. Upon entering, the place has the vibe of a typical chinese restaurant  and the staffs, made up of the older generation, were really friendly and nice

Where do you find a 3 course single person set lunch at only $8.50? Here!!!! Super cheap, so we ordered 2 single set lunch to try the different varieties.

zha jiang mian - never really tried much to compare, but the sauce here is lighter compared to others, not too jelad. Portion is good too.

xiao long bao - yummy meat juice oozing out at the very first bite, but I guess I had higher expectations because of the blog review I read.

boiled pork dumplings - similar to xlb, juicy!

steamed vegetarian dumplings - doesn't taste very vegetarian-ish so its good to go even for meat lovers!

My favourite favourite favourite of the lunch will be the rose flavoured glutinous rice balls! We were mad full after our 3 course meal EACH, but I guess sitting there chitchatting an enjoying the zircon did help a little with the digestion. And also, the blogger did mention like the glutinous rice balls are damn yums so how can I not try?! They have two flavours - osmathus and rose. The blog review recommended osmanthus but we wanted to give the rose a try. The aunty say is to 养颜 aka something to do with beauty and skin. For the glutinous rice balls you can choose either all different flavours or all of the same so we chose different flavours. The soup was super yummy, totally loved it and the skin of the glutinous balls were not too thick yums! I'm definitely going back for more next time.

One of the reasons why I said the staffs were really nice was because I was too full to finish my noodles, and while clearing they asked me is it because it wasn't to my liking. Normally people just don't care? +++ service points

Went to walk around Bugis after our meal and realised yet again that this little island is running out of things for us to do. At least in that area. Or maybe we are just two really wrong combination because we always have nothing in mind and end up wandering hahaha. Headed down to Arab Street area to look for some place decent to sit and drink and I suggested the little coffeeshop Claudius. brought me to early last year at the corner of Bussorah St.

Their milk tea is so yummy, I think it's actually comparable to my favourite thai iced milk tea. it is that good. The location is quite warm though, with no fans etc, thankfully there were occasional bouts of wind while we sat there and talked. Always nice to catch up with old friends!

Was supposed to meet E for his liberty but change of plans so decided to walk home from Newton (because I was already on the bus when plans changed). Wanted to try a new route home and realised this route actually brings me home much faster, and also introduced me to quite a few housings around that I was never aware of, together with a pretty view of the evening sky and a cute little Japanese boy.

Always love walking around aimlessly, rediscovering places, clearing my head in the process.
