Ah yi was waiting for us at the lobby at about 10ish for us to check out, and bring us to deposit our luggages with uncle for the meantime while we're in Chiangmai. For the first time ever, we took the public bus in Bangkok, and then a motor taxi! Ah yi asked if we wanted to take motor taxi and I thought she was kidding, then when we got off the bus she called out to 3 motor uncles and they asked us to hop on. I got on first, waiting for E and ah yi to settle on theirs with the luggages but my motor uncle just zoomed off. I got a shock and kept looking back because I don't know the place well, and the other two were still far far behind, what if the uncle bring me to somewhere else?!?!?! But okay la, shortly after they appeared behind me, with the luggages snugly sitting on their laps.. like this
Super interesting because E and I thought that they will maybe activate another motor taxi just for the luggages, but no.
bus tickets for 3
After depositing our luggages, ah yi and uncle brought us to the nearby Big C mall to have lunch and shopping for winter wear because ah yi say its super cold in Chiangmai and our hoodies will not be enough, so she insisted on us buying the winter coats, which were on sale at 200baht for the second hands. E and I got one each, and mine was so puffy I feel like Baymax in it lol. After lunch, we headed back to uncle's condo to hang out downstairs. But the neighbourhood damn knitted, neighbours were sitting around at the stone tables and benches and having simple conversations, just passing time and everyone knows each other. They have mini marts at each block of the condo, and a mini LAN shop which I saw a few kids in there playing and talking. And the best thing is that there is a pushcart hawker at the front of the block, selling cheap and yummy street food. Such a simple lifestyle, I've always yearned for. My friends always say that I was born in the wrong era, I should be a 50s/60s person lol.
And just beside the blocks of condo were those houses (as above) on the canal, with a sampan in their "garage" as their mode of transport. How cool is that. I even jokingly tell E if there's crocodiles in there during certain season I'll definitely freak out, because there were rumours in the previous Thailand flood that there were crocodiles among the flooded waters. Ah yi and uncle sent us to Hua Lamphong train station after that to catch our train. Dabao-ed food from the nearby food stalls to have them for our 8 hour train ride, and of course had dinner at kfc together with ah yi and uncle before we boarded the train. Ah yi insisted on sending us up the train, and kept reminding us to keep warm and stay safe :')
